Harvest Fields

While I was speaking at Chuck Pierce’s Head of the Year conference October 2016, a trusted prophet and friend had a vision of John Knox standing behind me. Knox was a Scottish clergyman and leader of the Protestant Reformation in the 1500’s. In his day, evangelicals in Scotland were routinely burned at the stake and their Bibles incinerated. Knox himself was imprisoned and enslaved for his involvement in the Reformation. Undeterred, he continued his stand, praying every day, “Lord, give me Scotland or I die!”

“When he saw the crowds, he had compassion on them because they were confused and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He said to his disciples, ‘The harvest is great, but the workers are few. So pray to the Lord who is in charge of the harvest; ask him to send more workers into his fields.’” (Matthew 9:36-38; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Jesus came for many reasons, not the least of which was for the souls of men. John Knox cried out for souls, even as other revivalists have. Ask the Lord to help you cry out for souls in your generation.
  • Ask the Lord to send workers into the harvest fields. They are white for harvest.
  • Here in America today we don’t really know what it means to be persecuted for our faith. Thank the Lord for the lack of persecution, confess that we have no reason to not share the Gospel.
  • Pray for the persecuted church in other nations.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, give me a heart like John Knox—a passion for souls. Give me the heart of my Jesus to so desire the sheep to know the shepherd that I must cry out for their souls to be saved! Father, send workers into the harvest fields. Lord, send me. Teach me to reap where I have not sown. There is no reason in America for me not to share Your Gospel. We have so much freedom here! Let me reap while there is still time. I pray for the persecuted Church around the world. Strengthen them, Lord. Grace to them. In Jesus’ name, amen.

Today’s decree:

The harvest fields are white! The Lord is sending us as workers into the harvest fields!
