The Light of the World

Jesus Christ is the Light of the World. He was there when the world was created, but the World could not see who He was when He arrived to light up the way to the Father. But, we have seen Him! We are filled with His light! His light is shining into the darkness, bringing hope and bringing life. Watch how brightly America will shine when all those of us who truly know Him let His light shine through us this Christmas!

“The one who is the true Light arrived to shine on everyone coming into the world. But although he made the world, the world didn’t recognize him when he came. Even in his own land and among his own people, the Jews, he was not accepted. Only a few would welcome and receive him. But to all who received him, he gave the right to become children of God. All they needed to do was to trust him to save them. All those who believe this are reborn!—not a physical rebirth resulting from human passion or plan—but from the will of God. And Christ became a human being and lived here on earth among us and was full of loving forgiveness and truth. And some of us have seen his glory—the glory of the only Son of the heavenly Father!” (John 1:9-14; TLB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • It is a day to exalt the Light of Lights, Jesus! Worship Him for a while.
  • Thank Him for filling you with the light, even as He is the Light. Ask Him to shine brightly through you into this dark nation.
  • Be aware everywhere you go today that you are bringing His light into that place and those circumstances. Let Holy Spirit show you how to pray as you go.
  • Ask the Lord to give true hope to wherever there is hopelessness in your area. Ask Him to flood the area with His light and love, and ask Him to make Himself seen!

A prayer you can pray:

Jesus, I worship You! Light of the world, I exalt Your holy name! (Use your own words and songs to worship Him for a while.) I thank You for filling me with Your light, even as You are the Light! Shine into the dark world around me. Shine through me into these dark areas (name some of them as Holy Spirit shows you what is around you.) Jesus, as I go about my day today, make me acutely aware of where Your light is needed. Holy Spirit, highlight the darkness in my corner of America, which I so often miss.  Show me how to release Your light in those places, so Jesus might be seen and might give hope! Amen!

Today’s decree:

We will let His light shine through us lighting bright our nation!
