Generations Warring Together

“Elisha gets brushed by the mantle of Elijah. This was a promise given to him by Elijah, but it wasn’t his mantle yet. So, what he does is stick with the prophet and he rests in the promises of God. When it comes time for the mantle to pass, he is not resting in the promises. He wars for the promise. It is a season to war for our promises! He begins to stick with Elijah all the way through to the end. For the older generations, you can’t go on alone. You have to be running with the next generation. Elijah’s best season as a prophet is when he anoints Elisha. Who is running with you and warring for your mantle? This is the season to work together and bust through and stick with it until America is busted through into her Third Great Awakening!” (Lou Engle)1

“When the Lord was about to take Elijah up to heaven in a whirlwind, Elijah and Elisha were traveling from Gilgal.  And Elijah said to Elisha, ‘Stay here, for the Lord has told me to go to Bethel.’ But Elisha replied, ‘As surely as the Lord lives and you yourself live, I will never leave you!’ So they went down together to Bethel.” (2 Kings 2:1-2; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Are you an Elisha, a member of the generations under 50? War for your spiritual inheritance. Don’t go it alone. Who are you warring with?
  • Are you an Elijah, a member of the generations 50 and over? Who are your Elishas? Don’t go it alone. Who are you bringing with you?
  • Ask God for you Elijah or Elisha. Determine to war together with the generations that are coming behind you or that have gone before you.
  • War together for the Third Great Awakening to begin in this nation!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, the young need the old and the old need the young. Prophets need each other from generation to generation. Apostles need young apostles to mentor. Evangelists, pastors and teachers need mentors, so we can all run together to expand Your Kingdom in the United States. Divinely gather us together, Lord. Don’t let us run in isolation. We are so much better together! We will war in intercession together until we see the Third Great Awakening hit our shores like a tsunami! In Jesus mighty name, amen.

The Elijahs and Elishas will war together until the Third Great Awakening busts out in America!
