Strengthening Our Neighborhoods

About ten years ago a young professional was visiting his mom at his family home in a major U. S. city. This only child was killed in their living room in front of his mom in a random drive-by shooting. Out of her grief, this mom began to prayer walk her neighborhood. She cried out to God to change things—to save the lost, break the crushing poverty, provide direction to the youth and deliver them from a spirit of violence. These were big requests, but she knew she had a big God! (Continued 4/19/16)

“And whatever things you ask in prayer, believing, you will receive.” (Matthew 21:22; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • If possible, prayer walk your neighborhood today. Or, pray as you drive through it.
  • What is the atmosphere in your neighborhood? Do you know any of the needs of the families? Look at the good and the bad and lift up the needs that you know of and observe.
  • Now, ask the Lord to give you a really big audacious faith-filled prayer to pray for your neighborhood! Write it down and get ready for surprising answers.

A prayer you can pray:

Dear Lord, I bring my neighborhood before You today. Help me to see it as You see it. Help me to see both the good things and the challenges that may exist. Grant me a grace to ask You for miracles here—miracle salvations, miracle healings, miracle shifts in the atmosphere (add your own requests and be specific.) I am asking You to establish Your Kingdom in my neighborhood, Father. In Jesus’ Name, Amen.

Today’s decree:

Kingdom of God, come in my neighborhood!
