The Finishing Anointing in the New Era – Part 2
[We began a very encouraging series 7/16 from a message Chuck Pierce released on Sunday, 7/12.]
“We are going to need a finishing anointing. Jesus talks about this in Luke 14. There are many passages in scripture about finishing. In some, the person finished well and in others they didn’t. However, this is a passage Jesus used to try to teach us about the finishing anointing. The Lord did miracles to let people know something. He didn’t do miracles just to do them. He did them to present a message that was necessary so people could understand who Father was and what Father wanted to do.
In Luke 14, verse 25, He turned and said to them, ‘If anyone comes to me and does not hate his own father and mother, wife and children, and brothers and sisters, yes, even his own life [in the sense of indifference to or relative disregard for them in comparison with his attitude toward God], he cannot be my disciple.’ This means, ‘I can’t teach him.’
“I think He is saying here, ‘There’s a long journey ahead of you, and before you jump in to be taught by Me, you’re going to need to count the cost of that journey. Because you might get labeled as one of My followers. Your family might even turn against you.’ There comes a time when you have to choose to go to war. There will come a time when you have to go beyond ‘self’ and do what He’s telling You to do.
“When God called me at 18, He said, ‘I have called you for the healing of the nations.’ For me to accomplish His will, I’ve gone 15 million air miles. I have had to give up my family. I had all these times of missed ball games and other family events. I came to a realization one Christmas of how much I had missed, and yet, I had no regret. That’s because I knew beyond a shadow of a doubt I have done what God has asked me to do. I did pray and asked God not to let me be gone one day that I wasn’t supposed to be gone. I want to take responsibility for my family, but I must follow Him. Some of you know this, but until I submitted to follow Him, He didn’t let us have children.
“See, God is really not God in Your life if He is not first. He’ll still be God of the universe, but He won’t be the Lord of your life.”
“But whatever gain I had, I counted as loss for the sake of Christ. Indeed, I count everything as loss because of the surpassing worth of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have suffered the loss of all things and count them as rubbish, in order that I may gain Christ … that I may know him and the power of his resurrection, and may share his sufferings, becoming like him in his death, that by any means possible I may attain the resurrection from the dead.” (Philippians 3:7-8 and 10-11; ESV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Say, “Lord, I want to finish well. Make me teachable.”
- Ask Him to remove any earthly passions that keep you from fulfilling His call on Your life.
- Sit with Him and count the cost to follow Him to the end. Think about what could happen to you. Is this still what you want, or like the rich young ruler in Mark 10, will you walk away?
- Say, “Jesus, I want to know You as the Lord of the universe, but I also want You to be Lord of my life!”
- Declare to Him, “I want to know You in the power of Your resurrection, the fellowship of Your sufferings, becoming like You in Your death, so I may enter into Your resurrection power!”
A prayer you can pray:
Lord, I want to fulfill my destiny on the earth. I want to be an expander and demonstrator of Your Kingdom. I want to walk with You all the days of my life and I want to finish well. Make me teachable. Many fears try to keep me from giving You my all. Fear of what others may say to or about me may stop me. Fear of rejection from my own family. There are many things that could happen. I might do everything You ask me to do and never see anyone come to You through my efforts. I could lose everything or never own anything to begin with. Please let me be able to count the cost and still choose You.
Jesus, I want to know You. I want to know You as the Lord of the universe, but I also want You to be Lord of my life! I want to know You in the power of Your resurrection, the fellowship of Your sufferings, becoming like You in Your death, so I may enter into Your resurrection power! Keep me on Your plath and teach me. Fill me with Your Holy Spirit and send me. The world needs Jesus and I want the world to know Him. I ask You for grace to run the race with endurance and make Your name known in my realm of influence in Jesus’ Name, amen.
Today’s decree:
We will give Him whatever He asks, so we can fulfill His will in the earth!
