Believing God Against Impossible Odds

I have been overwhelmed for a while now about the number of dreams people are sending me having to do with this nation. They are all good. They don’t all imply “easy”. None of them imply “the work is done”. They all indicate that we are moving into what we have been crying out for. We just have to finish well. I will share some of those dreams in the coming days. Today, I want to talk about when they started coming in.

In 2017, the Lord instructed me to carry a mantle of prayer for the nation under the banner of the Appeal to Heaven flag. That flag was commissioned by General George Washington during the Revolutionary War. He flew it over the battlefields, the ships, and the camps. All of those involved in the war knew that if God didn’t come through, it was laughable for us to even think we could win a war against the greatest empire on the earth at that time. 

I have been reading and studying about that war since that time. I have been struck with how impossible it was for that fledgling group of colonists to win a war like that. There were hundreds of opportunities for it to fall apart. Yet, God kept supernaturally helping them. This was because of their appeal to heaven. Under the flag that he commissioned, General Washington interceded for his troops. He led them in prayer before every battle. That flag was a reminder for them to appeal to the Lord for success, because they knew they couldn’t win that war any other way. If God was not fighting for them, it was not possible.

“You must not fear them, for the Lord your God Himself fights for you.” (Deuteronomy 3:22; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

• We can fear the harshness of the enemy or remember and trust in the faithfulness of God. Make a choice.
• If your battle feels like  more than you can handle, passionately, purposefully and consistently appeal to heaven for breakthrough.
• If the battle for America feels impossible, remember Israel’s great battles to obtain their promises. 
• Declare, “Therefore, we will not fear, but we will trust in the Name of the Lord our God. He made the heavens and the earth and He is able to deliver us out of the hand of the evil one!”
• Say, “With God, all things are possible!” Name the victories you are expecting.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, today we make a choice to believe You instead of fearing what the enemy can do to us. The odds are not in our favor. Examples from history show that this is common in spiritual battles. From stories in the Bible, such as the battles Joshua and Gideon led, to America’s Revolutionary War, we see these overwhelming odds against Your people. Yet, You came through when You were sought for the victory! George Washington knew that unless there was a persistent appeal to heaven, the war was lost before it began. He had a flag designed to remind his troops to pray for You were involved in the battle. Joshua kept reminding his people to put aside fear, seek You, and do whatever You told them to do, because You were directing the battle. You are all about fulfilling Your promises. We must only keep You in our sights. We must watch and listen carefully for You and Your instructions. If we do that, we will not fear, but we will trust in Your wonderful Name. You made the heavens and the earth and You are able to deliver us out of the hand of the evil one! With You all things are possible! We look for You for breakthrough in our personal situations, as well as to fulfill the promises given for our nation. In Jesus’ name we pray, amen.

We will win the war we are in because God is fighting for us!
