Attack and Take Back!
“In 1 Samuel 30, we see the story of David at Ziklag. We know that David had been on a long journey to fulfill his prophesied destiny of kingship. And if David had given up then, all of his sacrifices up to that point would have been for nothing. At Ziklag, the Amalekites attacked and robbed David and David’s men, taking everything that was precious in their lives. The Amalekite spirit is indicative of a viscous, violent spirit of robbery. The enemy’s attack was not a direct one to kill David, but rather an indirect one, to hurt and take what he most cared about. The plan was to make him crack and give up on his destiny. The pressure grew greater. Even David’s loyal men, out of their grief, began to turn on David and blame him. They even contemplated killing him! These were desperate times and David had a decision to make: would he give in to what was happening in hopelessness and despair or would he attack back? David did the wise thing and inquired of the Lord. The answer was clear and emphatic: pursue, overtake, attack, take back and recover all! I believe this is the same answer that the Lord is decreeing to the Church today: ‘Attack your lack and don’t look back!’” (Tom Hamon)
“David recovered everything the Amalekites had taken, including his two wives. Nothing was missing: young or old, boy or girl, plunder or anything else they had taken. David brought everything back. He took all the flocks and herds, and his men drove them ahead of the other livestock, saying, ‘This is David’s plunder.’” (1 Samuel 30: 18-20; NIV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Read all of 1 Samuel 30, if you have the time. If not, read the scripture above and let faith rise in you.
- Tell the enemy his work has been discovered, and you are demanding he give everything back and more!
- Make a statement of faith that you will recover all and bring back plunder. Be specific as to what the enemy has stolen from you and what you believe God has said will be restored.
- Pray the same over this nation. Let God show you what has been stolen and what you can ask to be returned in greater measure.
A prayer you can pray:
Lord, I think you for Your Word and this wonderful story about David pursuing his enemy and recovering all that was lost, plus bringing back plunder! Cause apathy and complacency to fall away from me and the Body of Christ. Let us rouse ourselves and believe! Devil, the Lord has just showed me what has been going on! I see you at work now against me and so many other godly people. You are going to have to give back seven times what you have stolen from me. You are going to have to return things that you thought were yours forever. NO! My family, my marriage, my children, my wealth, my peace, my health, give it all back and more! I want spiritual sons and daughters. I want my nation to experience the fullness of the Glory of the Lord. I want justice to flow like a river across this land. I want righteousness, peace, and a great harvest of souls for America. The Church will pursue you until we get it all back! For the glory of our Savior, Jesus, we pray, amen.
Today’s decree:
We will recover all!
