Who’s Contending for Our Freedom?
President Trump said some things at the White House dinner for evangelical leaders that I think are important for us to know. “He said, ‘I have done some things for me and my family that were also done for you.’ There are decisions he made about Jerusalem. He made decisions about attacking the social media’s attack against conservatives. He’s clearly done these things for us, not just his family. When he said that the midterm elections in November ‘will be a referendum on your religion,’ it was pure Cyrus out of the Bible saying to the Jews, ‘I’m standing in the gap for your faith. Are you standing in the gap for your faith? I’m fighting for you guys. Are you fighting for you guys?’ We need to contend for the faith that has been given to us. We need to contend for our freedom. Trump said, ‘This will be a referendum on your religion.’ With that he added, ‘It’s a referendum on free speech and the first amendment (to the Constitution).’ Your free speech is already being broken by the platforms we are on—the social media platforms. ‘You’re one election away from losing everything you’ve got,’ Trump said. Wake up, Church! You’re one election away. We must get this out across our networks. Nobody else is going to raise up the trumpet!” (Lance Wallnau)1
“Beloved, although I was very eager to write to you about our common salvation, I found it necessary to write appealing to you to contend for the faith that was once for all delivered to the saints.” (Jude 1:3; ESV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Ask Holy Spirit to stir up passion for Him in the heart of every Christian pastor and leader.
- Say, “Where there is resistance to Holy Spirit, Lord, raise up new leaders. We call them forth from every sector of society. Even if they don’t see themselves as leaders, give them the authority to act on Your behalf. Tell them what to do and say, and protect these obedient ones.”
- Contend for signs and wonders, personally, for others, in the earth, and governmentally.
- Cry out for mercy for our nation! Cry out for unity among the brethren! Cry out for confidence and boldness to fall on the Church in America!
A prayer you can pray:
“God, it is time for Christian pastors and leaders in America to become passionate! If the leaders do not respond to the prompting of your Holy Spirit, then you will raise up new leaders, as You did in America’s first revolution. You took ordinary farmers and merchants and bankers and others and you put them in positions to contend with the reins of history. Raise up the completely new voices that are honest and earnest and anointed to cause a coalition of power to come together. Jesus will be made magnificent. Give us signs and wonders. Stretch out Your hands as You did in the Book of Acts. Perform the supernatural and assist us. We cannot do this without You. We ask for an extension of mercy over America for the sake of Your Church, for the sake of Israel, and for the sake of the nations. Let there be a trumpeted warning that echos, even reverberates, in each of our hearts that we are right now entering a critical season. Like in the feast of Purim (Book of Esther), we must spiritually arm ourselves and go forth and contend for the right to exist, as a people in our own nations. I pray for a confidence and boldness to fall on the American Church. May we become a united movement, in the name of Jesus. Amen.” (Lance Wallnau)2
Today’s decree:
We will wake up and contend for freedom in this nation to freely express our faith!
