Transition

From now until January 20, 2017, Inauguration Day, our government is in transition. Just like transition in a birthing process, governmental transition is a potentially dangerous time. Cabinet positions must be filled, quickly and carefully. Everyone, including President-Elect Trump must be brought up to speed. President Obama has nothing to lose should he decide to act with Executive privilege. He could take action to leave a legacy that would be challenging for the next administration to undo. Congress may be distracted as they leave office defeated or come into office fresh and new.

“No one sews a patch of unshrunk cloth on an old garment. If he does, the new piece will pull away from the old, making the tear worse. And no one pours new wine into old wineskins. If he does, the wine will burst the skins, and both the wine and the wineskins will be ruined. No, he pours new wine into new wineskins.” (Mark 2:18-22; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Commit to pray daily through this season of governmental transition for the United States.
  • Pray that President-Elect Trump will choose individuals for his Cabinet that are right for this moment in history. (New wine in new wine skins.) Pray that they will be humble, wise and well-skilled. Pray that there will be no Judas’ among them, self-seeking or proud.
  • Intercede for Israel. Pray that President Obama does not make any decision that jeopardizes that nation before he leaves office.
  • Pray that the transition of Senators and Congressmen is smooth and that everyone currently in office keeps working. Making good decisions for the future of America.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, we lift up the transition of our government from President Obama’s administration to President-Elect Trump’s administration. We pray for that smooth transition of power. We ask that Donald Trump would choose humble, wise and knowledgeable individuals for his cabinet. They should be those that understand government, but are ready to make positive changes and are able to carefully undo some things. We intercede on behalf of Israel and pray that President Obama makes no last minute decisions that would harm her future or the U.S. relationship with her. Please also grant much grace to our Senators and Congressmen, as they transition in and out. Help them to stay fully engaged. In Jesus mighty Name, amen.

Today’s decree:

God will grant a supernatural grace to all involved for the United States to have a smooth transition of power.
