Preparing for the National Day of Prayer 2020 TOMORROW

Tomorrow is one of the most significant days on the U. S. calendar. We still have freedom here to pray, and we certainly will. As a nation, we honor the Lord every first Thursday in May as a National Day of Prayer. You will want to participate in one of many online prayer events tomorrow, and make sure you humble yourself before the Lord and do so. The official National Day of Prayer information can be found here. Even though we cannot meet together for the most part, you will find many tools to assist you and your family to pray for the nation. Know that millions of other Christians will be joining their prayers to yours tomorrow as well. We will post a portion of the official prayer guide here tomorrow to make it easier for you to pray, but a condensed version of the prayer guide is available here.

Additionally, the One Voice Prayer Movement first Tuesday of the month call has been moved to tomorrow at noon. We need to humble ourselves and pray for this nation like never before. Again, be wise enough to set aside at least a portion of your day tomorrow to seek the Lord while He may be found. America needs Jesus and America needs a move of God. We continue to proclaim, “America shall be saved!”

“Blessed are those who find wisdom, those who gain understanding, for she is more profitable than silver and yields better returns than gold. She is more precious than rubies; nothing you desire can compare with her. Long life is in her right hand; in her left hand are riches and honor. Her ways are pleasant ways, and all her paths are peace. She is a tree of life to those who take hold of her; those who hold her fast will be blessed.” (Proverbs 3:13-18; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Prepare your hearts to intercede for America in greater passion than in any former National Day of Prayer. Our nation is in great need.
  • Look and find an NDP online event or conference call to participate in or plan for your family to pray together for America.
  • Consider fasting and/or receiving communion together tomorrow as you pray. 
  • Seek the Lord for wisdom on how to intercede. Only He knows how we ought to pray in alignment with His plans and purposes. Don’t look to the media for prayer points for tomorrow.
  • Pray for God’s loving hand of healing and protection to be placed on the people of our Nation. Intercede particularly for frontline responders, the poor, and those deeply affected by sickness or financial distress.
  • Remind yourselves of the holy words found in 1 Peter 5:7: “Casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.”
  • Remember the words found in Psalm 91: “He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.”
  • Declare, Luke 1:37, that promises: “For with God nothing shall be impossible.”
  • Worship Him and stay in that place of worship all day in anticipation of tomorrow’s National Day of Prayer.

A prayer you can pray:

“Father, in our times of greatest need, Americans have always turned to prayer to help guide us through trials and periods of uncertainty.  As we continue to face the unique challenges posed by the coronavirus pandemic, millions of Americans are unable to gather in their churches, temples, synagogues, mosques, and other houses of worship.  But in this time we must not cease asking You for added wisdom, comfort, and strength. We especially pray for those who have suffered harm or who have lost loved ones. We ask You to hear our prayers as we prepare for our National Day of Prayer tomorrow. We pray for Your loving hand of healing and protection to be placed on the people of our Nation.

“We pray for the health and well-being of our fellow Americans as we remember that no problem is too big for You to handle.  We remind ourselves of the holy words found in 1 Peter 5:7: ‘Casting all your care upon him, for he cares for you.’ With Your help, we will overcome every threat against us. As we come to You in prayer, we remember the words found in Psalm 91: ‘He is my refuge and my fortress: my God; in him will I trust.’
