From the President – Praying for the Economy

“As you know, my administration is working every day to protect American people and the American economy from the virus. Wednesday, I signed into law a critical support for American workers, families, and small businesses. It was a big thing. We’re providing sick leave and family medical leave to those affected by the virus and more help is on the way as we speak.

“Our entire team, headed by Secretary Mnuchin, is on the Hill. We’re working with Democrats and Republicans and there’s a lot of goodwill going on. This was something that happened that just surprised the whole world. The whole world, almost, is inflicted with this horrible virus and it’s too bad. It’s too bad because we never had an economy as good as the economy we had just a few weeks ago. But we’ll be back and I actually think we’ll be back stronger than ever before because we learned a lot during this period of time.

“We’re working with Congress to provide major additional relief to the workers, small businesses, and the hardest-hit industries. We want to make sure that everybody is able to continue on so that when we recover, all of these companies and these great businesses — both very, very small and very, very large — are not going to be broken up and you’d have to put them back together. That would take a long time.

“When this is defeated — this hidden scourge is defeated — I think we’re going to go up very rapidly — our economy — and get back to where it was and beyond.”

“Now He has promised, saying, ‘Yet once more I shake not only the earth, but also heaven.’ Now this, ‘Yet once more,’ indicates the removal of those things that are being shaken, as of things that are made, that the things which cannot be shaken may remain. Therefore, since we are receiving a kingdom which cannot be shaken, let us have grace, by which we may serve God acceptably with reverence and godly fear. For our God is a consuming fire.” (Hebrews 12:26b-29; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

• Place your eyes firmly on Christ and do not look at the shaking. He is in control!
• Thank the Lord for a President and governing leaders who understand economic principles and can navigate the shaking economy.
• Ask God to give our leaders wisdom mixed with compassion for those who are losing jobs and other resources as a result of this global emergency.
• Intercede for continued legislation to help Americans weather this storm.
• Call for a quick turnaround and a V-shaped recovery—that the economy will rebound and head back up when this is over, as fast as it headed down.
• Pray for quick relief for the suffering.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, You are in control, even though it looks like things are shaking so hard that not much will be left. You are taking care of us. You are the one who owns the cattle on a thousand hills. You take care of the birds of the air and the You clothe the flowers of the field. We must just look around us. Increase our faith. We thank You for a President and governing leaders who understand economic principles and can navigate the shaking economy. Shake what needs to shake out. Shake out everything that is corrupt and unnecessary. Clean things up and reset them Your way. Have mercy on the people, Lord. Grant mercy and grace to those who have lost jobs and income. Get us through this quickly. We pray now that the economy will rebound as quickly as it is falling. We trust You for Your intervention in this matter and thank you for Your love and care for us in Jesus’ name. Amen.
