Getting the Terminology Correct
All the way back in 1986 God sent a prophet to tell me, “You will be a part of the fresh age of the Melchizedek order.” I didn’t know what that meant and neither did the prophet that delivered the Word. As I studied it out, the Lord showed me that Melchizedek was both a king and a priest. He was a type of Christ, of course, who is both the King and the Priest. Then, He says to us that we are a kingdom of priests, and we are a royal priesthood.
The priestly anointing is vertical. We offer up worship and requests before the Lord. It is the Church being the Bride. In the kingly anointing, we operate horizontally and we decree. The kingly anointing is the Ekklesia being God’s legislative body in the earth.
Ekklesia is a governmental term. When God said He would build His Church, He wasn’t talking about a building, an organization, or a congregation of Believers. Words like fellowship, family, body of Believers, are not synonymous with Church. For example, my wife is the administrator of our ministry. She is a mother, grandmother, friend, and sister in the Lord to me. However, if I introduced her to you as my administrator, life would be very uncomfortable for me for a while. Even though she is both my wife and my administrator, they don’t mean the same thing.
So, even though we are the Bride of Christ and the family of God, that was not what Jesus was talking about when He said, “I will build My Church.” He said, “I will build my legislature. My Kingdom will have a government on earth. I will give My government keys—the keys to My Kingdom authority. With them, My Ekklesia will have the ability to bind and loose (legal terms.) And the gates of hell will not prevail against it.”
We have not done that very well in the past, but the Ekklesia is coming into a greater and greater understanding that we do have more authority than the powers of darkness. We have more authority than principalities. We can decree as God’s royal priests and kings.
“And I also say to you that you are Peter, and on this rock I will build My church, and the gates of Hades shall not prevail against it.” (Matthew 16:18; NKJV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Let the revelation of the devotional today sink in deep. If the revelation is not new, just let it be a reminder of who you are.
- Pray for the Church to understand what it means to be the Church, the Ekklesia, the legislative Body of Christ in the earth.
- Intercede for the Ekklesia to prepare for a verbal warfare that declares and decrees the will and purposes of God into the earth.
- Begin to get your decrees ready. Gather your scriptures. Write them down. Then, speak them out at the moments He shows you.
- Pastors, teach your Church how to be the Ekklesia. Practice this by releasing them to make decrees during your worship services.
A prayer you can pray:
Lord, we are privileged to be Your priests and kings in Your eternal Kingdom. We may not fully understand what that means, but we do see that there is a role we have not been fully walking in. This role of authority is foreign to us. It is revealed by Your Spirit to ours. So, Holy Spirit, help us comprehend how the Father wants us to work with Him to decree His will into the earth. Let this revelation spread and spread, to many churches and denominations and other groups of Christians. We want to be a mighty spiritual army in the earth. We do not want to give the enemy ground that is not his to have forever. Let this ancient foe see that the people of God see his wily ways and we are learning to stop him in his tracks. Lord, give us Your assignments. Give us Your scriptures. Make us confident to speak Your Words into the earth, so You can form them into miracles, signs, wonders, and new life. Let our pastors make room in the times we gather together for the Body to be the Ekklesia. Train us all, across many denominations and streams. But, don’t let it stop there! We will go forth with the Word of God in our mouths to the places of influence You have called us to and shift that, too, in Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Today’s decree:
The Ekklesia, the Church, will prevail against hell’s attack in the earth!
