Asking for Wisdom and Revelation Together
There’s a Hebrew word coming to me frequently as I am studying out the Lord releasing more wisdom and revelation to the apostolic and prophetic in this hour. It is the Hebrew word “biyn”. It is a word that comprises both wisdom and revelation in one word. Daniel walked in this. Solomon asked for and was gifted with this. Joshua had this. The sons of Issachar moved in this. They knew what time it was—revelation, so they knew what to do—wisdom. They functioned in both of these things.
When Solomon asked for this, he didn’t use the word that just means understanding, which is the way we think of wisdom. He used the word that means wisdom and revelation. He said, “If I am going to rule this nation, I need to hear from You, Lord. Give me a hearing ear and a hearing heart, and then show me how to apply this.” So, he asked for both of these things.
This is what the Holy Spirit does for us. We are supposed to listen for Him and hear Him quickly, and tune into what He is saying on a daily basis. You are not just supposed to hear from Holy Spirit at a conference. You are not just supposed to hear in a church service. You are not just supposed to hear in your devotion or quiet time in the morning. You are supposed to hear from Him throughout the day. You’re supposed to take Him with you and commune with Him and listen to Him. He wants to talk to you on the job. He wants to say to you things like, “Don’t do that. Go over here and invest and I’ll give you a breakthrough.” He wants to flow through us as we function.
“‘Now, O Lord my God, you have made me king instead of my father, David, but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of your own chosen people, a nation so great and numerous they cannot be counted! Give me an understanding heart so that I can govern your people well and know the difference between right and wrong. For who by himself is able to govern this great people of yours?’ The Lord was pleased that Solomon had asked for wisdom.” (1 Kings 3:7-10; NLT)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Do not be afraid to ask the Lord, as Solomon did, for ‘biyn”, the spirit of wisdom and revelation operating together. It pleases the Lord when we have the faith to ask Him for things like this.
- Break off any limitations you feel as far as where and when you can operate in the gifts the Lord has given you.
- You may be one that has limited your time of communing with God to a specific time and/or place. Let Him know that you want to walk and talk with Him all through your day. Ask for a grace to turn your heart and thoughts toward Him throughout your day.
A prayer you can pray:
Lord my God, you have made me (insert your role or profession), but I am like a little child who doesn’t know his way around. And here I am in the midst of precious people that You care very much about. I want to share Your plan to give them life and that abundantly. Give me a hearing ear and a hearing heart, and then show me how to apply this in my situation, so others can see You, Jesus, in and through my life. I love the time I have set aside to pray and read your Word. I love to go to church and worship You. But, I realize today that I need to walk and talk with You. I want to learn to commune with You as I go about my daily life. I don’t want to relegate you any longer to a specific place and time in my life. You are my life! You are my greatest friend. You are the one who made me and knows me best, even better than I know my own self. Lead me and guide me, Holy Spirit, in the spirit of wisdom and revelation. Show me what I need to know for myself and those around me. Reveal to me how to carry that out in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Today’s decree:
We are in a movement of intimacy with God where the saints are filled with the spirit of wisdom and revelation in the knowledge of Him.
