The Hinge Year
I think this next year is going to be one of the most strategic years of our lives. I think we are going to need to go through this next year with sobriety. We are going to need to be very alert. We are going to need to be sober and watching and listening, because this is the year that will shape our future in many ways. I believe historians will write about this year and say, “This was the hinge year.” So, over the next few days I am going to share with you what I believe the Lord is saying about this next year.
I believe Amos 9:13-15 is the message for this year. In fact, I really like it in the Message version where it says that things are going to happen so fast we won’t be able to keep up. It says good things will be happening all at once. All kinds of blessings are coming! This is the season we are moving into. We are moving into a season of acceleration and great celebration.
Daniel 2:20-22 says, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.” Sometimes it seems like things move very, very slowly, but preparation stages are often slow. Chronos seasons can become mundane and it can seem like we are stuck. We are not. The routine season actually prepares us for the suddenlies and the season of acceleration. We are now moving into one of those periods of great acceleration.
“‘Yes indeed, it won’t be long now.’ God’s Decree. ‘Things are going to happen so fast your head will swim, one thing fast on the heels of the other. You won’t be able to keep up. Everything will be happening at once—and everywhere you look, blessings! Blessings like wine pouring off the mountains and hills. I’ll make everything right again for my people Israel.’” (Amos 9:13-15; MSG)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Get up and shout and praise Him. We have entered a season of celebration!
- Brush off, shake off, or throw off anything of the old season that would hold you back. Get rid of it. Complacency, tiredness, feeling downtrodden or beaten down, sickness, weakness, fear, lack, tell it all to go! Determine not to let anything hinder your movement forward now.
- Know what your assignment for the season is. You may have lost sight of some things in the slow, mundane time we have just come through. Ask God to help you make His vision for your life plain. Write it down and believe Him for it. Be sober-minded and exact in this.
- Get Daniel 2:20-22 deep in your spirit for this next year. It says, “Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to Him. It is He who changes the times and the epochs; He removes kings and establishes kings; He gives wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is He who reveals the profound and hidden things; He knows what is in the darkness, and the light dwells with Him.” You will work with Him in the next season to establish some currently strategically hidden things. Get ready for Him to reveal these things to you.
A prayer you can pray:
God, You are my God! You are holy and mighty, loving and just, merciful and worthy of all of my praise! I will praise You in the morning, at noon, and at night. I will praise you alone, with my family, and in the midst of the congregation, I will praise you in the hidden places and praise you on the streets. The Name of the Lord is to be praised and I won’t let another praise You in my place! You have changed the season! It is a season of celebration! It is a season of acceleration. Lord, the last season felt like drudgery at times. Oh, the Church did some things in You and said some things for You, but nothing like it is about to! I want to be fully ready, so I shake off complacency, tiredness, weariness, doubt, limitation, and lack. No more, Lord, no more will I allow the enemy to beat me down and make me think this time is never coming. The season has arrived! Let the name of God be blessed forever and ever, for wisdom and power belong to You. It is You who changes the times and the seasons; You remove kings and establish kings; You give wisdom to wise men and knowledge to men of understanding. It is You who reveal the profound and hidden things; You know what is in the darkness, and light dwells with You. So, show me what is in Your heart for me at his time. Equip me in every way to run with You, Jesus, and advance Your Kingdom in this nation. Amen.
Today’s decree:
“Yes indeed, it won’t be long now! Things are about to accelerate!” (Amos 9:13; MSG)
