Take Authority, Then Take Down the Giants
Before Caleb went to fight the giants in the land, Joshua gave him a city. Moses had given it to Joshua. Here’s what I want you to see. God does not wait until the giant is defeated before He announces the transfer of ownership for that city. Joshua said to Caleb, “I have full authority to give you this city. I don’t care how many giants are up there. I’m announcing today, ‘It’s your city!’”
Most of the Church does not think this way. Most of the Church waits until all the demons and all the strongholds are gone before they start acting like they own it. But, God says, “You have to act on it now. You have to believe Me now. You have to call what’s yours now. Then, you can go kick out the giants! So, I say over Chicago, for example, that the stronghold has been uprooted. It has been torn down. This city belongs to the Lord! His people are successful and victorious in battle.
“So Joshua blessed Caleb, son of Jephunneh, and gave Hebron to him as his portion of land. Hebron still belongs to the descendants of Caleb, son of Jephunneh the Kenizzite, because he wholeheartedly followed the Lord, the God of Israel. (Previously Hebron had been called Kiriath-Arba. It had been named after Arba, a great hero of the descendants of Anak.)” (Joshua 4:13-15; NLT)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Say, “Lord, we are going to call what is not, as if it is!”
- Declare, “The Lord has given us this city! We receive it as our inheritance from Him! We call it a beautiful and righteous city. We call God’s people here successful and victorious in battle. We say it is ours.”
- Proclaim, “We are going to get the giants out, no matter how many there are or how strong they are. If He gave this city to us, no matter how bad it is, He will show us how to clean it up and cause it to glorify Him.”
A prayer you can pray:
Lord, we are going to call what is not, as if it is! We take hold of the gift of faith, which You are giving us. We believe You have given us this city! We receive it as our inheritance! We call it a beautiful city. It is a righteous city. We say that it is filled with revival and awakening. We see the great harvest of souls happening here. We call Your Church here successful and victorious in battle. We say that this city is ours. We declare that we are going to get all the giants out, no matter how many there are or how strong they are. The giants are no match for Your people filled with faith and the Word of the Lord. You have given this city to us, so no matter how bad it is, You will show us how to clean it up and cause it to glorify Your beautiful Son, Jesus. Amen.
Today’s decree:
This city (name it) belongs to the Lord!
