Taking Out the Giants

Chuck and I agree that the cities with the strongest strongholds in America are Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Detroit. We believe Chicago is number 1. That is not a negative reflection on Believers in these cities or that the Church there has failed. It means that the enemy sees what God is planning to do in these places and is working hard to prevent it. He has, therefore, set up strongholds there. There has to be a reason, for example, that Chicago has become the greatest stronghold of death in the nation. 

God has recently taken me back to the story of Caleb and his victory over the giants in Canaan. Have you ever heard of Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai? How about Arbah? The Old Testament tells us that Arbah was the greatest of all the giants. He was the father of the race of the giants. He had three sons: Sheshai, Ahiman, and Talmai, who were also giants. We don’t know who these three were other than that. They were not that big of a deal to God. Even though they were giants that ruled the land, they were not that powerful. Caleb had no problem taking out those giants. 

The size of the giants are not the issue. How long the giants have ruled is not the issue. The only issue is, “Will the people of God obey Him and respond in faith to what God says?” When we do, it is not that hard to take out giants. God can liberate our cities! The giants are no match for HIm!  

“They advanced against the Canaanites living in Hebron (formerly called Kiriath Arba) and defeated Sheshai, Ahiman and Talmai.” (Judges 1:10; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Read Joshua 14:6-15 where Caleb asks Joshua to give him the mountain where Kiriath-Arbah was, so he can drive the giants out of the land God was giving Israel. Let your faith rise up.
  • Caleb was easily successful, because he “wholly followed the Lord.” Recommit yourself to be fully obedient to the Lord.
  • Choose one of these cities, look up their most current needs, and intercede for them, calling forth the opposite of what you see: Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and Detroit. Call forth Life in place of death, for example.
  • Ask God to expose the giants in these key stronghold cities.
  • Declare that the giants rooted there, which are affecting the entire nation, will be uprooted and replaced with God’s Presence and plans.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, as I read about Caleb’s request and his faith to overcome the giants in the land, let my faith arise. Let me believe what Dutch is saying. I can route the giants in my territory, whether that’s my neighborhood, my city or my nation. I must simply follow You completely. I love You, Lord. I am Yours and You are mine. Let me hear Your voice and follow your instructions. Let faith rise up in me and overcome every giant. This is not impossible for You. You simply want a clean and willing vessel to use. Clean me up. Use me. Show me how to pray over Chicago, New York, Los Angeles, and/or Detroit. The prophets say spiritual strongmen are ruling from these places. I certainly see evidence of that! Expose the giants in these places. Set our nation free! I believe Your Church can pray and remove them, if we are careful to humbly pray Your way. We declare that the giants rooted in these cities will be uprooted and replaced with Your plans and with Your Presence. How we will worship You! Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

Through our obedience to the Lord’s plans, we will take out the giants in our land!
