Getting Past the Religious Structures
I feel like God is about to awaken denominations and streams and tell them, “You are stuck in the past.” He’s going to shift the thinking of religious people. There are some doctrinal things that should not be. Church government structures, thoughts on eschatology, these things are keeping us apart. We should be able to reach across our doctrinal differences and work together, if our basic theology is true to the Word of God. John the Baptist said, “He must increase. I must decrease.” We, the Church, are here to make Him known, not ourselves or our denominational doctrines. We are here to expand His Kingdom in the earth, not build our own. We must pray that the Church does Matthew 28:18-20, not just Mark 16 during this next outpouring.
“He must increase, but I must decrease. He who comes from above is above all, he who is of the earth is from the earth and speaks of the earth. He who comes from heaven is above all.” (John 3:30-31; NASB)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Intercede for the leaders of the Body of Christ across all denominations. Pray that they would be prompted by the Holy Spirit to look at whether doctrinal differences are keeping them from working together with other members of the Church.
- Decree, “He must increase and we, His children, His servants, must decrease.”
- Ask the Lord to stir the Church to pray for all segments of society, especially government.
- Pray leaders equip the saints to share the Gospel where they work and have influence.
A prayer you can pray:
Father, I pray for all of the leaders in the church, across all denominational lines. I love them all, Lord, and I so desire that we would be one, even as You are One. Your Word says that the world will drawn to Jesus by the love we have for one another, but so often our doctrinal differences keep us apart. Certain things, such as the way we conduct church services or how we dress, or even arguments over when and how You will return, are not things that should keep us apart. Those things are not as important to salvation. Help us to put our prideful ideas aside! You must increase and we must decrease. We must stop trying to be seen, and exalt You, Jesus, instead! We have to reach the world, in all those places You send us every day. We must go into the harvest fields – government, education, arts and entertainment, media, etc. Show our leaders how to follow Matthew 28:18-20 and equip the saints to pray and go into these harvest fields. Grant us grace and influence, in Jesus’ name. Amen.
Today’s decree:
There is a humility coming to the American Church that is motivating us to work together to expand God’s Kingdom in the nation.
