Thoughts About the Midterms – Moving Forward
When Joshua led Israel into the conquest of their God-given land, Canaan, they began with a great, supernatural conquest at Jericho, one of Canaan’s most fortified cities. However, Israel was defeated in its next battle, one they would have won, had they listened to and obeyed God. But Joshua and his people didn’t give up. They regrouped, sought God’s help, and returned to the battle. And they won. Yes, I am disappointed by one aspect of the election outcome; however, I am greatly encouraged by the others. We are weaker in the House but much stronger in the Senate, where the most important cause of our day can still be accomplished: the shifting of the Supreme Court. In the meantime, we must and will continue to pray. Our prayers are making a huge difference and will continue to do so. Without question, we are seeing our nation turn around.
“Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged. Take the whole army with you, and go up and attack Ai. For I have delivered into your hands the king of Ai, his people, his city and his land. You shall do to Ai and its king as you did to Jericho and its king, except that you may carry off their plunder and livestock for yourselves.” (Joshua 8:1b-2;a; NIV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Time to regroup! Read Joshua 7 and 8, which outlines the defeat and victory over Ai. Note that God wanted to give them a second chance and the spoils were greater on the second try once they had aligned themselves in relationship to the Father!
- Thank the Lord for election day victories that were won.
- God loves faith! Declare, “God will give us the Supreme Court of the United States and judges as at the first!”
A prayer you can pray:
God, all of the honor and glory and worship go to You alone for the future of America. We will read Joshua 7 and 8 today and note the spiritual principles for turnaround. Your Church must repent, listen for Your directions, and root out and deal with any sin at the cross. Then, we must listen again, and follow Your instructions for intercession and action. We must work together for the good of our nation. We can’t move forward if Christians fight with one another and refuse to work together. Above all, we must move forward on our knees. We will get the most accomplished in prayer, intercession, and prophetic declaration of Your Words. Thank you for the victories already won! God will give us the Supreme Court of the United States and judges as at the first! Grace to America, Jesus! Amen.
Today’s decree:
The United States of America is turning around!
