Quotes from Founding Fathers and Presidents
“It cannot be emphasized too strongly or too often that this great nation was founded not by religionists, but by Christians; not on religions, but on the Gospel of Jesus Christ. For that reason alone, people of other faiths have been afforded freedom of worship here.” (*Founding Father, Patrick Henry) President Adams, on July 4, 1821, said, “The highest glory of the American Revolution was this: it connected in one indissoluble bond the principles of civil government with the principles of Christianity.” (*) Calvin Coolidge, our 30th President of the United States, reaffirmed this truth when he wrote, “The foundations of our society and our government rest so much on the teachings of the Bible that it would be difficult to support them if faith in these teachings would cease to be practically universal in this country.” (*)
“He alone is my rock and my salvation, my fortress where I will never be shaken.” (Psalm 62:2; NLT)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Declare, “Our nation was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ!”
- Thank the Lord for all of those who laid down their lives 240+ years ago for the cause of birthing a nation that would honor Jesus Christ above all.
- Declare, “The Bible, the Word of God, is an important component of the foundation of our government. The world cannot take that away, judges cannot take that away, and politicians cannot take that away. We, Christ’s followers, choose to live on that firm foundation!”
- Declare, “Those from the nations of the earth who come to our shores shall find refuge here, religious freedom here, and the opportunity to come to know Christ here.”
A prayer you can pray:
Our nation was founded on the Gospel of Jesus Christ! Many lives, including those of some of our founding fathers, were lost establishing the United States of America as a nation that honors Christ above all. Thank you for their sacrifice, Lord. How dare we treat it so lightly as to ignore what they fought for. The Bible, the Word of God, is still an important component of the foundation of our government. The world cannot take that away, judges cannot take that away, and politicians cannot take that away. We, Christ’s followers, choose to live on that firm foundation! Jesus, send us those from the nations of the earth. Let them come to our shores and find refuge here, religious freedom here, and the opportunity to come to know You here. Amen.
Today’s decree:
Our nation was founded on Christ alone!
