Removing Prayer In School

On June 25, 1962, the Supreme Court of the United States removed prayer from schools based on Engel v Vitale. For 185 years, prayer was allowed in public institutions and the Constitutional Convention itself was opened in prayer. If the founding fathers didn’t want prayer in schools, why did they pray publicly in official meetings? The U. S. Supreme Court, with no precedent in any court history, said prayer will be removed from schools. Here’s how harmful the prayer in question was: “Almighty God, we acknowledge our dependence upon Thee, and we beg Thy blessings upon us, our parents, our teachers and our Country.” That was the offensive prayer.

“Therefore let us draw near with confidence to the throne of grace, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help in time of need.” (Hebrews 4:16; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

• Declare, “Prayer wasn’t removed from schools, like the judges supposed. It was sent like a seed to die and now it will spring forth in multiplied prayers in schools everywhere!”
• Declare, “Our schools will be filled with prayer!”
• Get your children ready. Teach them and train them how to pray. They can start a movement by standing next to their desks, bowing their heads and quietly praying before they sit down. They do not have to even make a disturbance. They can gather and pray for their school and nation at the flagpole every day, not just one day a year.
• Determine to raise your children to fear God and not man. Yes, they can pray at home, but why shouldn’t they pray everywhere they go? Does your family pray over meals in restaurants? Then, they can pray over lunch in the cafeteria.

A prayer you can pray:

Prayer wasn’t removed from schools, like the judges supposed. It was sent like a seed to die and now it will spring forth in multiplied prayers in schools everywhere! Our schools will be filled with prayer! Jesus, teach us to teach our children to pray. Let us give them God-ideas every day to fill their school with prayer! We want to start a student-led prayer revolution in the schools. They will publicly pray for their school and nation before they go in. They will pray at their desks before they sit down. They will pray over their lunches. They will pray in groups on playgrounds and quads at lunch time. They will pray at sporting events and at graduations. They will unashamedly pray! Far from the courts shutting down prayer, the persecution will have only made us more bold. What have we been waiting for? Jesus, lead us, guide us, and direct us. Amen.
