Reopening Spiritual Wells

One of the most significant spiritual wells for America exists in Jacksonville, FL. It’s where the Huguenots landed. This became the first place the Gospel was preached, as far as we know. The preaching there resulted in the first convert we are aware of in what is now the continental United States. Then, it became the place of the first martyrs, as they began to be persecuted for their faith. A modern-day leader of the congregation near that area recently felt that a spirit of Leviathan had set itself up at the spiritual well there on that beach. So, he led his congregation to rent a building where the Huguenots were and to continue to hold services there until they dealt with that Leviathan spirit and reopened the spiritual well there.

“And Isaac dug again the wells of water that had been dug in the days of Abraham his father, which the Philistines had stopped after the death of Abraham. And he gave them the names that his father had given them.” (Genesis 26:18; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Take a good look around your city. Look at it spiritually, like this (write your answers down):
  • Is there evidence God established it for His purposes? Or, was it started by men with human desires or corrupt plans?
  • If it was established for God’s purposes, what has the enemy been doing there to stop God’s plan from reaching full potential?
  • If it was established by man’s human desire, what can be done to turn things around to glorify God?
  • Look up scripture to use as a sword for prayer in either case.
  • Gather a couple of like-minded friends and go pray these things over your city. Go where God tells you to go and intercede. Watch it begin to turn.
  • You just engaged in spiritual mapping and spiritual warfare. Worship God and thank Him for the turn-around! You can do this over any arena of authority or where there was any significant move of God – your schools, businesses, cities, state, nation etc.
