The Love Revolution

“One of the things to be planted is what could be called ‘The Love Revolution’. Just as the Summer of Love in 1967 changed the landscape of a generation, so now, 50 years later, the world will see the face of Christianity in a new light. The admonition in 1 Corinthians 14:1, ‘Let love be your aim’ will be planted in the nations as the church rises up in a more visible way. The words of the theme song from the Jesus Movement, ‘They will know that we are Christians by our love’ will have a new resonance as this message of loving God and loving one another is sung in new ways. We will be carriers of God’s goodness wherever we go!”1

“My children, our love should not be only words and talk. Our love must be true love. And we should show that love by what we do.” (1 John 3:18; ICB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Worship the Lord for a minute. He is the Lover of your soul. He is your first love.
  • From loving God, we can love others. Pray for your family members and friends out of that place of love.
  • Pray for those in your neighborhood by name, especially praying for those you know have a special need from the Lord or who need Christ in their lives.
  • Think of a loving act you do for a neighbor or someone who doesn’t know Jesus, so we can show them who He is. Can you shovel a walk? Visit a shut-in or widow? Take groceries to a needy family? Ask the Lord for a creative idea, and get your kids involved, too!

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, we love You! We love because You first loved us. Without You loving us, I am not sure we could love very many people. How we thank You and praise You! (Use Your words to tell Him how much He means to you.) I pray for (pray for each of the neighbors on your street. Ask God to show you how to lovingly pray for them, even if you don’t know them.) Jesus, show me how to let them know You love them. Give my family and I creative ways to do a kind thing for them. Please provide the boldness to carry it out. Amen.

Today’s decree:

The nation will know we are Christians by our love for one another and by the loving ways we treat our neighbors.
