Jan 31st – Pray our Courts will Defend Religious Liberty!
Tonight, President Trump is scheduled to announce his pick for the U.S. Supreme Court to fill Justice Anthony Scalia’s seat. The political fireworks have already begun in the U.S. Senate. Please keep this prayer target series to help you pray for a process that could take months. Your prayers are needed for this and future court appointments! A growing anti-religious freedom movement has materialized over the past 60 years. Our First Liberty seems to have been forgotten by too many Americans, among them state and federal government leaders, including the courts. Religious liberty has been under increasing assault from every direction. One gospel coalition analyzes it thus: 1) Religion has become personal and private, not public; 2) Freedom of religion has been reinterpreted to mean freedom of worship; 3) Fewer people claim to be religious today; and 4) The Sexual Revolution has advanced its own vision of sin and salvation.
“It is for freedom that Christ has set us free. Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.” (Galatians 5:1; KJV); “Stand and Pray!” (Ephesians 6:13-18; KJV)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Thank the Lord for stirring Americans, and especially Christians, to push back in November’s Election against the tide of anti-faith government discrimination.
- Pray for President Trump and his advisors and appointees, that they will work with Congress to pass laws that stop anti-religious discrimination and bleeding caused by the previous administration, state and local laws and ordinances.
- Pray that the American people will be delivered from their biases favoring sexual activism over religious liberty and that anti-religious secularism will cease to be advanced in our public schools and colleges.
- Ask God to spur activist judges to retire. May He guide the Trump Team to weigh Religious Liberty heavily in choosing every future SCOTUS Justice and federal judge. In Jesus’ Name!
A prayer you can pray:
Father, tonight is a key night for our nation. President Trump will announce the nominee for the Supreme Court. We are trusting You that he has sought You and sought wise counsel, and has chosen the right person needed on our Court at this time. We long for a Justice that will not legislate from the bench! We pray that You would deliver Your people from religious discrimination; that first amendment rights would no longer be denied for Christians. In Jesus’ Name. Amen.
Today’s decree:
God will give us the Justice He has been preparing to take Justice Scalia’s place!
