Our New Strategy: Don’t Move On, Move Forward
In 2 Samuel 5:17-25, the Philistines decided to fight King David. They attacked him in the Valley of Rephaim, which interestingly, means “the valley of giants.” David sought God for the battle plan, implemented it, and defeated the Philistines there. He renamed the place Baal-perazim, which means “the master of breakthrough,” stating that God had broken through his enemies for him.
The Philistines, however, decided to attack David again and planned to do so in the same manner and place. Same enemy, on the same battlefield, attacking him with the same strategy. One would think David might also use the same strategy he had previously used to defeat them. But David inquired of the Lord regarding this and God said, “No. You shall not go directly up; circle around behind them and come at them in front of the balsam trees. And when you hear the sound of marching in the tops of the balsam trees, then you shall act promptly, for the Lord will have gone out before you to strike the army of the Philistines,” (Verses 23-24). David obeyed this strategy and prevailed once again.
Spiritual strategies change. If we are going to experience the Master of Breakthrough and defeat the spiritual giants in our land, it is critically important that we listen to Holy Spirit and adapt our strategies to His instructions. On one occasion, Israel desperately needed water. Moses sought the Lord and was told to strike a rock with his staff; when he did water gushed forth (see Exodus 17:6). On another occasion when Israel needed water, however, God’s strategy was for Moses to speak to the rock and command water to come forth. Moses disobeyed, striking the rock, as he had previously. This produced the needed water but God was very angry with Moses for disobeying. So angry, in fact, that Moses was severely disciplined.
Strategies change.
One of the most important keys to victory in spiritual warfare is listening to the strategy, wisdom, and timing of Holy Spirit. He wants to go before us and defeat our enemies, as he did for David, but can only do so as we implement His strategies. He prepares a table before us in the presence of our enemies and will refresh us from the Rock of our salvation, Christ himself, but only as we listen and obey. We must tune in to His timing, tap into His creativity, do as He says, and this will bring success.
We must be as “the sons of Issachar, men who understood the times, with knowledge of what Israel should do” (1 Chronicles 12:32). “Understood” is the Hebrew word biyn, which is really a mix of wisdom and revelation. Wisdom – that which is learned over time, and revelation – that which is received spontaneously by the Spirit.
Some have asked why I stopped counting the number of days since the election and placing that at the beginning of the YouTube posts. Is it because I have given up the fight for justice? Have I moved on from Donald Trump being used by God in America? Have I changed my mind regarding what I believe God wants to do in our nation? The answer to all of these questions is an emphatic “No!” I have been in the fight for 30 years; be assured that will never change. And I’m more certain of victory now than I was 30 years ago. I am not “moving on,” as in forgetting the past season; I am “moving forward,” to the next strategy and phase of God‘s restoration plan for America.
My count, therefore, has stopped and my approach has changed for the following reasons.
- It is clear that the Judicial system and Congress do not intend to deal with the election any further. At least not currently. (This, by the way, has brought us needed insight regarding many of them.)
- It is also clear that Mr. Trump has decided to deal with the situation in another manner, at least for now.
- And it has become clear to me, as I have sought the Lord, that our strategy must also change. Therefore, I am not counting from Election Day, I am now counting forward into the new phase and strategy.
Do I believe God will continue to use Donald Trump? Absolutely. Do I believe he will continue to expose degeneracy and corruption in our nation? Absolutely – without a doubt! Having said that, however, my primary goal in this prayer journey we have been on was never to get Donald Trump reelected. Our spiritual warfare must not devolve into a battle for a man. The means is important but it must never become the end. We must be very diligent to keep our focus on God’s big picture and plan. My goal and assignment in prayer was and is to see America continue turning back to God and fulfill her spiritual destiny, of which Donald Trump became an important part. Therefore, it was a very simple decision to persevere in prayer. Though God is absolutely answering our prayers, He is not doing so as we thought or hoped He would. His plans and goals, however, have not changed. We must now adapt to His new strategy.
My plan with these posts is to keep us focused and pointed in God‘s direction, and do so in His timing. I will also be sharing some of what I think God did accomplish through our prayers. They were absolutely not in vain. In fact, they have positioned us for the next phase. We, like David, have found the God of breakthrough over our giants, and we will not turn back. Like any good fighter, God sometimes allows the enemy to land a blow, just to set Him up for a knockout punch. I assure you that regarding His strategy for America, He is far ahead of satan. And now that the Church is praying, the strategy will be unleashed. Stay engaged and get ready for the ride.
“Our forefathers didn’t win these battles by their own strength or their own skill or strategy. But it was through the shining forth of Your radiant presence and the display of Your mighty power. You loved to give them victory, for You took great delight in them.” (Psalm 44:3 TPT)

Thank you so much, Father, for what You have begun in this nation. You are restoring; You are enabling us to recover all. “The appeal” has been restored, “Reset” has occurred, and the covenant well of Cape Henry is open. The Liberty Bell assignment is alive again. Valkyrie has fallen. You have said You were going to do this, and You are.
Enemies have now risen up against you in earnest. They believe they can stop You. They arrogantly mock You and Your word. They believe they will win. You, however, have never lost and You will not lose now. So, as the Psalmist said, bare Your mighty arm; rise up and scatter Your enemies. Break the back of evil in our land and cause a mighty revival of life, relationship with You, and healing.
Now Lord, as we move into the next phase of Your strategy, we ask for a rebirth of passion toward prayer. May those who were engaged, stay engaged. May we grow in our understanding of Your ways – teach us to pray at even higher levels. We ask You to bring forth the Ekklesia You envisioned when You made the great statement in Matthew 16: “I will build a Church that the gates of hell cannot prevail against.” Do it now, Lord. We pray in Your name…amen.
