Ending Human Trafficking
[Beginning 9/25, and continuing through Election Day, November 3rd, GiveHim15 is joining forces with many other national prayer ministries in 40 Days of Prayer for America. Cindy Jacobs of Generals International provides today’s prayer focus.]
“Human trafficking must be exposed and must cease to exist in our lifetime, especially in America. There are 30 million slaves in the world, and 10 million of those are children. I know the Lord wants to rescue all those who have been exploited and set them free. He is a God whose lovingkindness extends to all those who seek refuge in Him. He saves the searching and the perishing. Let us pray for justice and healing for those who are trafficked here in America and that the traffickers will be brought to justice!
“There are 17,500 women and children trafficked into the U.S. every year. Human trafficking generates over 100 billion dollars annually worldwide. The Trump administration has awarded more than $35 million in grants from the Justice Department to organizations that provide safe housing for survivors of human trafficking. Let us continue to cry out in prayer against trafficking and modern slavery until it is eradicated in this nation.”
“Rescue the weak and the needy; deliver them from the hand of the wicked.” (Psalm 82:4; ESV)
Points for Prayer (By, Cindy Jacobs):
Pray for liberation and justice for the victims: “He upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free” (Psalm 146:7; NIV).
Ask the Lord to heal and restore the victims: “I waited patiently for the Lord, he inclined to me and heard my cry. He drew me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock making my steps secure” (Psalm 40:1-3; ESV).
Pray for God’s vengeance on the traffickers: “For the wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality” (Colossians 3:25; ESV).
A Prayer You Can Pray:
God, we declare that we are going to see the ending of human trafficking in America. Right now, that seems like an impossible declaration, but we know You can help us make this a reality. No one 150 years ago thought slavery could really end, but it did. Modern day slavery will be uncovered and ended as well.
There must be exposure, Lord. We say, “Expose, expose. Expose!” Holy Spirit, shine Your light in the dark places of our communities where these secrets are hidden. Uncover the transports, the housing, the illicit activities that those involved hide within. Light, penetrate the darkness! Darkness, you cannot resist the Light!
We say, “The Lord upholds the cause of the oppressed and gives food to the hungry. The Lord sets prisoners free!” We say, “You are free” to those who are crying out, ‘I am waiting patiently for the Lord. He will incline to me and hear my cry. He will draw me up from the pit of destruction, out of the miry bog, and set my feet upon a rock, making my steps secure.’” And we declare over the traffickers, “You will be found out! Every wrongdoer will be paid back for the wrong he has done, and there is no partiality with God.” Thank You, Jesus! Amen.
