God’s Divine Blueprint for Government

[Beginning 9/25, and continuing through Election Day, November 3rd, GiveHim15 is joining forces with many other national prayer ministries in 40 Days of Prayer for America. Dave Kubal of Intercessors for America provides today’s prayer focus.]

“And you shall teach them the statutes and the laws, and show them the way in which they must walk and the work they must do. Moreover, you shall select from all the people able men, such as fear God, men of truth, hating covetousness; and place such over them to be rulers of thousands, rulers of hundreds, rulers of fifties, and rulers of tens.” (Ex 18:20-21; NASB)

“Through divine wisdom, the ancient Hebrews were the first to create a representative republic based upon law. This was the blueprint for the republic we now enjoy in the United States.

“Our Constitution and Bill of Rights serve as the foundation of law for our nation. Our representatives in Congress pass laws based on this foundation. The President executes the laws. The Supreme Court, confirmed by the Senate, guards and protects the foundation.

“This element of the divine blueprint—‘Moreover you shall select from all the people’—is the most important because those who are selected have the opportunity to affect everything. Scripture is clear that those to be selected are to be able, God-fearing, truthful, and content. These are the values we are to look for in candidates. Those of us with biblical worldviews must go beyond the rhetoric and discern candidates’ hearts and values.

“This is what it means when we say we are praying that Christians ‘vote their values.’ There is much prayer for candidates, the process, and for issues, but who is praying the Church would vote and vote biblical values?

“The Church could be the largest voting bloc if we all get out and vote.”

Points for Prayer (By, Dave Kubal):

  • Pray strategically for the Body of Christ to be salt and light in the civil arena.
  • Pray for the “silent majority” to get out and vote consistently with biblical values.
  • Pray for the many Christians running for office and serving in government to be strengthened in grace and truth.

A Prayer You Can Pray:

God, You have made Your children to be salt and light in the world. We know You and we are to make You known in every arena of society. We are to expand your Kingdom in the realms of influence You have put us in. One of the areas we are all participating in is our government. We the people are to steward this area, and we have abdicated that responsibility in many ways for many years. So, we are picking up that mantle. We commit to pray strategically for our leaders. We will gain Your heart for America as we pray. We will vote.

Holy Spirit, prompt the Church to vote November 3rd. Prompt us to look at who is running for office. Show us where to find information on the candidates, noting their views on critical issues. Lord, move on the hearts of the Church to seek You for the candidate to vote for. We cannot vote according to our emotions or how our family has always voted. Enough of that! Set Your people free to vote Your way, Jesus, without fear of what anyone other than You thinks about our decisions. You raise up the right candidates and direct us how to partner with You to get them in the right office at the right moment for the future of America. Amen!

Today’s Decree:

The Church of America will vote God’s way!
