America has Godly Roots

I wrote about the beginnings of America’s colleges in my book Giants Will Fall. 106 of the first 108 colleges in America were founded on our Christian faith. That includes all of the Ivy League schools. Students at Harvard were required to read the scriptures twice daily. Harvard’s founders stated, “All knowledge without Christ is vain.” Harvard’s motto was, “For Christ and the Church.” The rules and precepts of Harvard stated, “Every student shall consider the main end of his study is to know God in Jesus Christ.” Princeton’s motto was, “Under the protection of God, she flourishes.” Jonathan Dickinson was the first president of Princeton. He stated, “Cursed be all learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ.” Countless other examples could be given.

“Under God” is more than just a religious quote stuck in the Pledge of Allegiance just to satisfy America’s Christian zealots. It is, in fact, our history and we must lay claim to it. We must pray. We must not allow the humanists, the secularists, and other anti-Christ forces to steal our godly heritage. We must know our history. We must never be ashamed of it. There were parts of it that were not good, and God wants to heal this nation from the painful parts of our past.

God wants to heal those who have been oppressed. Satan is trying to fight all that. He wants to foster and foment more anger, violence, and hatred so that the healing cannot happen. But God is going to win!

“You neglected the Rock who begot you, and forgot the God who gave you birth.” (Deuteronomy 32:18; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Thank the Lord for our godly heritage and proclaim that you will not let it be forgotten, but will fight for it to be known.
  • Contemplate the fact that today’s most liberal colleges were founded by Christians. Students of those colleges were taught of Christ as a basis of their lives and knowledge. Talk to the Lord about that.
  • Many colleges and universities teach a very liberal socialist humanistic philosophy to our youth today. Ask the Lord to fully expose this and change it.
  • Decree God’s healing over people who are hurting and angry.
  • Every time you see a riot in your city or through a news source, bind the powers of the enemy and decree God’s healing over the nation.
  • Lay claim to our righteous destiny, which is to be a voice for the Gospel to the ends of the earth.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, I thank You for this nation. Thank You for what You raised us up to be. We are not going to let it go. We are not going to lose it. We are going to look back and remember the godly things. We will remember and thank You for our godly roots and heritage. Continue to uncover and expose facts, such as 106 of the first 108 colleges in America were founded on our Christian faith. It should be made known far and wide that our most liberal schools today were founded by Christians. Not only that, but they wanted the students to know that only with God at the center could they expect to be successful in their lives and careers. Even Harvard declared, “Every student shall consider the main end of his study is to know God in Jesus Christ.” Your Word was honored as a necessary foundation for life and learning. As Jonathan Dickinson said, “Cursed be all learning that is contrary to the cross of Christ.” This is who America was and this is who America is!

We are going to pray healing over this nation. We are going to see restoration. We are going to see the races come together. We are going to see increasing revival in our streets. It is going to come through Blacks, Latinos, Asian Americans, Native Americans, and White Americans. We are going to see the Church come together and the Ekklesia be used by You in our nation to impact the earth. We ask You for increased strategy and revelation so that we can reset this nation. Thank You, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

I am not ashamed of the Gospel of Christ, nor of the Christian roots and heritage of this nation!
