Tomorrow is Sanctity of Human Life Sunday
Tomorrow is the third Sunday in January, celebrated in many churches in America as the “Sanctity of Human Life Sunday”. Life Matters Worldwide provides many resources for Churches to assist us in setting tomorrow aside as a holy day of intercession for the ending of abortion in America.
God is a God who created life. He sustains life. He provides eternal life through the former work of His Son on the cross and in the power of His resurrection. His Holy Spirit today continues to draw people to Jesus, convicting them of sin. As we receive Christ, we enter that eternal life with Him. But, there is a devil, the arch-enemy of Jesus, who seeks to do all that he can to steal, kill and destroy lives so precious to God. Abortion is the number one killer of humanity worldwide. Why are we allowing this to continue?!
There is a way out. There is hope. There is a Savior! Jesus came that we might have life and that abundantly, from the womb until we take our final earthly breath. There are always answers, once we get past the fear Satan causes when we sin against God. There is adoption. There is support. There are kind people in churches across the country that aren’t filled with judgement, but compassion, because we remember that we have been sinners, also. Rise up, Church, and decide to be one who lovingly provides answers. There is so much we can do. Let the Church be the place these young moms, dads, and family members can find hope and a future. Christ will give us the grace to help in time of need when we ask Him.
“The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy; I came that they may have life, and have it abundantly.” (John 10:10; NASB)
Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:
- Cry out for the unborn! Worldwide, we have now killed more than 61 million babies in the womb.
- Pray for women today who are finding themselves pregnant and terrified of the consequences of their sin. Pray they find their way to those with God-answers.
- Intercede for women whose hearts have been hardened and have become convinced that abortion is a normal part of women’s healthcare. Soften those hearts through intercession.
- Ask the Lord to deliver our country from this heinous crime against humanity.

A prayer you can pray:
Lord, our Lord, we cry out for the lives conceived in sin and hopelessness today. We have witnessed the killing of more than 61 million little, newly formed lives. How can we tolerate babies being ripped from the safety and security of their mothers wombs? What kind of society tolerates that? How is it that we are not protecting our most vulnerable with everything we have at our disposal. We are the richest nation on earth. We have money, time, creativity and rule of law. We have no excuse! Give America freedom from abortion. Set us free from this sin and death, Jesus. Change our hearts and change our laws. Give us lawmakers and judges that will choose and honor life.
Where there is fear in a woman and a man, a mom and a dad, and family members, intervene! Lead them to those filled with love and compassion. Lead them to those who know where answers can be found. Lead them to the cross and salvation through Jesus, most of all. Soften hard hearts. Penetrate minds that have been taught things against Your ways. Forgive the looking to earthly reputations and financial situations, instead of to Jesus, the Savior, Lover of our souls, and Provider of all things. You are God of the Breakthrough and the way maker. You are the Hope Giver. Jesus. Make us ready for powerful times of intercession for life tomorrow in our churches. Anoint our united cries and prayers for breakthrough. Amen.
