Going Through God’s Doors – Pioneer or Settler?

The early pioneers to America left their homes, their businesses, their families. They traveled uncharted waters and faced many hazards. The risks were numerous. They came to a land that was new. It was largely unknown and unexplored. They had no idea what they were going to face. Indeed, many of them would not survive. They built a settlement and put a wall around it. A couple of years later, there was a great argument among them, because some of them wanted to build a road westward for about a mile. Those that wanted the road wanted to explore a little bit and see what the land was like. Those that didn’t want to build the road were fearful. They said, “We don’t know what’s out there. We’ve got this nice fort and wall to protect us, and we are satisfied right here. 

What happened to those people that had gone all the way across an ocean to a place they’d never seen? They had had such a pioneer spirit, then a couple of short years later they wouldn’t go one mile! Something very subtle had happened. They had gone from being a pioneer to a settler. Now, they were satisfied. 

Don’t ever stop short. Get all that God wants to give you! Don’t be afraid of the new or the unknown. It will require some faith, but you have faith. Go through that door of faith. 

“Jesus told his disciples: ‘Have faith in God! If you have faith in God and don’t doubt, you can tell this mountain to get up and jump into the sea, and it will. Everything you ask for in prayer will be yours, if you only have faith.’” (Mark 11:22-24; CEV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

• Examine your walk with God. Are you a settler or a pioneer? 
• Do you have the faith to pioneer and go where God sends you?
• Do you have the faith to move when God says move or change when He says change, or will you ignore Him because you are comfortable where you are?
• Does any fear of change in you affect your walk with the Lord?Draw near to Him and He will draw near to you.
• Is there something He has asked you to do that you have put off? Good news! You can repent and get back on track!
• Has there been a mountain in your life that you have been unable to overcome and you know it is because you haven’t had to faith to see it come down? Stir yourself up in your most holy faith right now and tell that mountain to move!

A prayer you can pray:

God, there have been times in my life where I am so content in You that I want things to remain in that place forever. I don’t want anything to change. I admit that I like the status quo and the comfort. Just like those early American settlers, the thought of anything affecting that comfort becomes unsettling. However, You are always on the move. You are unchanging in Your nature and character, but You are always moving the Church forward. You know what You need to do to get us to advance Your Kingdom. You are even okay to shake our lives up a bit. Your Kingdom is ever-expanding and we must not settle or we may end up going backward. I repent. If there is something You have destined for me to do to expand Your Kingdom, I agree to do so. If there is intercession that’s mine to decree and declare, then give me the words of faith to do it. If there is someone you want me to share with or a work You want me to start for You, then stir me up and make Your plan clear! If there is a mountain needing moved, I’m Your person! There are some pretty big mountains this nation is facing. Swamps need drained, our President needs prayer, new Supreme Court justices need seated, abortion must end, human trafficking must be solved, the races must respect one another, and on and on. Link me together with like-hearted other pioneers so America can be saved, Jesus. Amen.
