Going Through God’s Doors – A Door Of Hope

Hosea 2:14-16 says, “Behold, I will allure her (Israel, bring her into the wilderness, and I will speak tenderly to her heart. There I will give her her vineyards, and make the Valley of Achor (Troubling) to be for her a door of hope and expectation. She shall sing there and respond as in the days of her youth.” The Lord is saying, after all the sin and compromise and all it has cost Israel, that He is not going to leave her there. He is  even going to reverse the shame, and she will find herself singing again. He is saying, “I am going to go back and restore things just as they were at the beginning when I brought you out of Egypt.” “And, it shall be in that day,” says the Lord, “That you shall call me ‘Ishi’ (my husband), and you shall call me no more ‘Baal’ (my Baal or ‘slave-master’).”

The Lord wants to open a door of hope for you. He wants to release us from discouragement and despair. The passage above follows Israel having created their own despair due to sin. That is not always the case. So many times we find ourselves in a difficult place and it really has nothing to do with what we did. It could just be the circumstances of life or what happened through someone else. But, the good news is that the Lord says, “This is a time where I am going to allow you to go through open doors.” I believe one of them is this door of hope.

Hebrews 6:18-20 says, “By two unchangeable things [His promise and His oath] in which it is impossible for God to lie, we who have fled [to Him] for refuge would have strong encouragement and indwelling strength to hold tightly to the hope set before us. This hope [this confident assurance] we have as an anchor of the soul [it cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it]—a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil [of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in which the very presence of God dwells], where Jesus has entered [in advance] as a forerunner for us, having become a High Priest forever according to the order of Melchizedek.” What He is saying here is, “If you take the plunge and walk through this door of hope, I promise you that on the other side you will find My Presence. You will find Me there waiting. I have already gone ahead of you. I’m your forerunner. I’m your high priest. You are going to find refuge there.”

I wrote a book on hope-deferred; the loss of hope. The Bible says it makes the heart sick. It gives us heart disease. But, today is a day of hope. Go through that door!

“May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit you may abound in hope.” (Romans 15:13; ESV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Have you been dealing with hope-deferred? Talk to the Lord about that. He deeply cares and does not want you to remain there.
  • Read the devotional above once again and let the Word of God sink in deep. His love for you can lift you out of every place of despair.
  • See the Lord as a door of hope before you and literally step into Him. A door of hope is a door out of the desert, out of the darkness, out of the dry season, and into life and that abundantly. Let your step forward be a step of faith.
  • Say, “God of hope, fill me with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit I may abound in hope.”
  • Worship Him!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, I have been in a long season of dryness. I have lost heart in many ways. Some of that has been because of delays of the manifestation of the vision You promised. Some has been due to the actions of others against me. Whatever the reason, I want my hoe restored. I am heartsick. I am down-trodden. Even Your Word has had little life to me, and that is not how I have been in relationship with You! I want a restoration of the vibrancy and intimacy of times past. I want others to see You through me! Lord, let Your sweet hope-filled love drop deeply within my spirit. Restore, Lord, restore. I can have Your hope and confident assurance as an anchor of my soul. It cannot slip and it cannot break down under whatever pressure bears upon it. It is a safe and steadfast hope that enters within the veil of the heavenly temple, that most Holy Place in whichYour Presence dwells, where Jesus has entered as a forerunner for me. God of hope, fill me with all joy and peace in believing, so that by the power of the Holy Spirit I may abound in hope in Jesus’ Name. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Today, I am going through the Door of Hope!
