Bring Your Bible to School Day – Tomorrow, October 3rd

“It’s vital to empower the next generation with the understanding that they don’t have to hide their faith or compartmentalize it to the ‘private’ sphere. The nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage protects their right to boldly, authentically and freely live out their faith—without fear of reprisal. That’s the heart and vision behind Bring Your Bible to School Day. On this day each year, hundreds of thousands of kids courageously engage with classmates about God’s truth and love as revealed in His Word. They are looking beyond temporary cultural debates and sharing something eternal—the light of God’s hope and love. By encouraging students to bring their Bibles to school, we hope to help our country turn back to embracing religious freedom and expression.

“In the past, Bring Your Bible to School Day has emboldened students to share their faith, and prompted students to discuss their faith openly. One example comes from a student named Savvy:

“‘I took my Bible and sat it in my desk all day. I had a few kids… ask me about my faith and it was a great conversation. But I think the best experience I had was when my favorite teacher and I had a very awesome in-depth conversation about faith that didn’t turn into an argument but it ended up something we both agreed on. I plan on carrying my bible with me every day at school now, even if one person asks I feel like that’s an opening for me to explain and share the great truth of Christ with them.’ – Savvy, 17

“The Christian legal group Alliance Defending Freedom is once again partnering with Focus on the Family to offer students free legal representation if their rights are violated at school.

“This year, Bring Your Bible to School Day will also be promoted by Christian artist Francesca Battistellia and Newsboys.” (Focus on the Family)

“For I am not ashamed of the gospel, for it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed from faith to faith; as it is written, ‘But the righteous man shall live by faith.’” (Romans 1:16-17; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Declare, “This generation will have an understanding that they don’t have to hide their faith or compartmentalize it to the ‘private’ sphere.”
  • Say, “The nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage protects our right to boldly, authentically, and freely live out our faith—without fear of reprisal.”
  • Pray that students of every age will receive the revelation of that statement before tomorrow morning. It is the truth!
  • Ask God to make our students strong and courageous, willing to bring their Bibles to school tomorrow!
  • Ask God for lots and lots of wonderful testimonies, such as Savvy’s above.
  • Pray that through the simple act of bringing their Bibles to school, students can hope to help our country turn back to embracing religious freedom and expression.
  • Intercede for Alliance Defending Freedom as they carefully watch over the activities tomorrow. They are ready to take any blatant attack against the students’ First Amendment rights to court, even all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary.
  • Thank the Lord for influential persons, such as Drew Brees, Francesca Battistelli, and the Newsboys, among others, making strong public statements that they stand with students bringing their bibles to school today!

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we declare that this generation will have an understanding that they don’t have to hide their faith or compartmentalize it to the ‘private’ sphere. This nation’s Judeo-Christian heritage protects our right to boldly, authentically, and freely live out our faith—without fear of reprisal. Help our students be confident in this before tomorrow! Help them to be strong and courageous and willing to bring their Bibles to school tomorrow. Strengthen the timid and the fearful. This is their moment to shine and share the Gospel alongside many of their fellow classmates. Show them Your faithfulness by giving them testimonies like Savvy’s, where curious students ask honest questions. Let teachers respectfully engage them in conversations about their faith. Let salvations occur. Let there be long-term fruit, helping our country turn back to You. Let our nation once again embrace true religious freedom! Bless Alliance Defending Freedom as they carefully watch over the activities tomorrow, ready to take any blatant attack against the students’ First Amendment rights to court. They are committed to take cases all the way to the Supreme Court, if necessary. Also, bless Drew Brees, Francesca Battistelli, and the Newsboys, among others, who are influential persons. Their strong public statements that they stand with students bringing their bibles to school today can help dispel any fear. Be honored, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

I will not be ashamed of the Gospel of Jesus Christ!
