Praying Down a Hurricane

Most everyone is aware that Hurricane Dorian is bearing down on the southern east coast. Its power has been directed toward Florida until yesterday, when it appeared that it was going to make a right turn. That turn would take it north. But a further swing east takes it right back out to sea. We are hearing from many prophets and intercessors that that is exactly what they have been praying.

Apostle Guillermo Maldonado led a prayer service in Miami where the congregation powerfully commanded the hurricane to stay away from Florida. Another group of individuals from across the country spent united time on a prayer call where they saw the hand of God protecting the coastline of Florida and the Carolinas. Yet a third report was of a prayer group filled with faith in Texas. That state has compassion for the area in the hurricane’s purported path, as they have suffered much from hurricanes there. One of the prophets in that group felt they saw the breath of God blow the hurricane off its current course. They commanded the storm to turn back to sea in response to the wind of the Holy Spirit blowing against it. Well, that sounds like God is speaking. Each was seeing the same scenario, though the Lord was speaking to each in the way they could hear/see most clearly from Him.

Dorian is not fully off course yet! Last night, its wind speed was around 145 miles per hour. It needs to avoid the nation entirely. We need to stop this major hurricane in prayer!

“Can you find your way to where lightning is launched, or to the place from which the wind blows? You don’t for a minute imagine these marvels of weather just happen, do you? I’m in charge of all this—I run this universe.” (Job 38:24,30 and 41:11; MSG)

“Jesus was in the stern, sleeping on a cushion. The disciples woke him and said to him, ‘Teacher, don’t you care if we drown?;’ He got up, rebuked the wind and said to the waves, ‘Quiet! Be still!’ Then the wind died down and it was completely calm. He said to his disciples, ‘Why are you so afraid? Do you still have no faith?’” (Mark 4:38-40; NIV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer

  • Worship the Lord and thank Him for the Believers who are interceding to stop this storm. Thank the Holy Spirit for helping us to hear His strategy clearly, so we can pray the way He desires us to.
  • Do as Jesus did. Stir up your faith and say to the storm, “Quiet! Be still!”
  • Make this declaration, “Hurricane Dorian, your winds and rains and fury belong in the ocean, not on the land. America shall be saved from you by the One True God. Jesus will save us! Turn back and dissipate! You are not welcome in this nation. The open waters are the place for you! Holy Spirit, Breath of God, blow against this raging storm. Blow it back to open waters until it is peaceful and calm.”
  • Keep praying until you see the storm move from its projected path back into the ocean from where it came.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, we love hearing how You are directing the prayers of the saints as one across America. We have heard the reports from intercessors, pastors, apostles, and prophets. Whether in Florida, North Carolina, South Carolina, Georgia, Virginia, Alabama, Mississippi, Louisiana or Texas. We have heard of the unity in intercession. We have heard that they are worshipping together until You give Your strategy. You are leading Your saints across the land to pray a specific way. We read Your Word and stir up the faith You have given us to pray likewise. We say to the storm, “Quiet! Be still!” We command the storm to turn back from our shores. We say, “Hurricane Dorian, your winds and rains and fury belong in the ocean, not on the land. America shall be saved from you by the One True God. Jesus will save us! Turn back and dissipate! You are not welcome in this nation. The open waters are the place for you! Holy Spirit, Breath of God, blow against this raging storm. Blow it back to open waters until it is peaceful and calm.” Thank You Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Even forces of nature must submit to the name of Jesus! Our nation will be saved!
