Transition Series – Finding His Perfect Will

Jesus says in John 7:17, “Anyone who wants to do the will of God will know whether my teaching is from God or is merely my own.” The principle here is, “If I’m willing to do His will, He will show me His will.” There have been times in my life where I was only willing to hear His will if it was this. I don’t think I was willing to hear it if it was that. So, you know what? There have been times when He won’t talk to me. Some people want to know the will of God, so they can decide whether or not to do His will. So, I need to work to get my emotions in control and say, “Lord, show me Your Will, because I believe in my heart You want the best for me.” Then, God can show me what His will is.

In Colossians 3;15, it says, “Let the peace of God rule your heart.” Don’t make the mistake of believing that the peace of God is an emotion. You can have peace in your emotions. The peace spoken about here is fruit-of-the-Spirit peace. You can have the peace of God and everything around you is in great turmoil. You can have just been dealt a very serious blow and your life be in grief, and you can have the peace of God. That’s because the peace of God spoken about here is something in your spirit. Sometimes you just feel a peaceful, happy emotion, but when it’s truly the “peace of God”, you can always trust it to lead you. There are times the Peace of God led me down paths that my emotions didn’t like. The circumstances may not have been peaceful to my mind, will, and emotions. However, God gave me a peace that settled all that and helped me hear Him, so He could direct my path.

“Whoever is willing to do what God wants will know whether what I teach comes from God or whether I speak on my own authority.” (John 7:17; GNT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • In all the crazy turmoil going on around us, there is a peace available to us. That peace that only Jesus carries. Worship Him and invite the Prince of Peace into the middle of your turmoil.
  • Ask yourself these questions from that place of worship and peace: Is it possible that the upheaval in your life could be connected with not knowing His will? Are you willing to do His will, if He shows it to you? Or, do you want to know it so you can decide whether to do it or not? Be honest with Him. He already knows the answer.
  • The world desperately needs the peace that only Jesus can provide. You carry His peace, when you humbly submit to His will and His direction for you. The world will take notice and many may want the source of that peace—Jesus! Intercede for those you know are in need of peace and worship some more! Here is some peaceful music to help you.

A prayer you can pray:

God, there is a whole lot of craziness and turmoil going on in my life, and everywhere, or so it seems. I need the peace that passes understanding. I know that is only found in You, Jesus, my Prince of Peace. (Worship Him a bit.) Lord, from this sweet and peace-filled place, I am asking You to speak to my heart. I want to know Your will. I feel that will help settle the fear and anxiety that may be contributing to my lack of peace and trust in You. You know if I can handle it. Show me if I only want to know Your will, so I can decide whether I like it or not. Reveal my heart, so I can know if my desire is only so I can decide if that’s something I agree with or not. My heart is so squirrelly. The Bible says that only You can know it. I open my heart to you. Speak to me, Jesus. Show me where I need to repent and get on board with You. I want the world to notice the Peaceful One I have walking with me, so they can know You, also. This nation needs peace and Jesus, You are the only one who can give it. As I worship some more, send Your holy angels to answer, to minister, to provide direction and rest. Thank you, dear Prince of Peace, amen.

Today’s decree:

May the Peace of God that passes all understanding flood us as we submit our will to His perfect Will—that the world may know Him!
