What Do We Do Now?

We must pray like never before. We are in a window of opportunity. The placing of a Supreme Court Justice is not just for the current generation, but for the generations that follow us. We should not make quick judgements about nominees, but we must bathe the entire process in intercession. Until we know that we know, or until the confirmation process is complete, we are not to stop praying. Recently, a fellow friend in the ministry said that he felt no need to pray further, as “Kavanaugh’s confirmation is assured.” It wasn’t that they had received a Word from the Lord about it. It was a statement made from research on the number of votes it would take to confirm or deny Judge Kavanaugh the seat. I thought that was a very interesting comment. There is a spiritual war on for that seat. We should not stop praying until we know God’s perfect person is seated there. It’s not over until it’s over!

The effective, fervent prayer of a righteous man avails much. Elijah was a man with a nature like ours, and he prayed earnestly that it would not rain; and it did not rain on the land for three years and six months. And he prayed again, and the heaven gave rain, and the earth produced its fruit.” (James 5:16b-18; NKJV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Ask the Lord to give you grace to continue to intercede for the next Supreme Court Justice until the confirmation process is complete.
  • Intercede for all of the preparations for the Senate Judiciary Committee hearings that are coming up September 4th- 7th.
  • Ask God to stir the Body of Christ to pay attention and pray for this matter, which affects their children and grandchildren and the nation’s future course.
  • Identificationally repent for the Church’s dismissal of the importance of this seat. It can set the composition of the Court solidly for a generation.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, I have been praying for the next Supreme Court Justice for quite some time now. Grace me to not get weary, tired, or want to give up. Grant me grace for the battle until the victory is assured. Give me Holy Ghost insight and passion. Let me see the future my children and grandchildren will have with the right person in place. Increase my faith to believe the corporate prayers of the saints will get the right person there. Do the same for others in the Ekklesia. There are many preparations for the hearings happening now. Let everything get in place. Let everyone be ready with the right information and the right questions for Judge Kavanaugh. Forgive your Body for growing weary in well-doing, Jesus. Sharpen our ears to hear what the Spirit is saying to us. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Intercession will decide who the next Supreme Court Justice is.
