The Command of the Lord of the Harvest

“The problem we have right now is not that we have so many unbelievers in the nation. The problem is that we don’t have enough laborers. Jesus came out seeing the masses, harassed and helpless, like sheep without a shepherd. He gathered His leaders and said, ‘We’ve got a big problem here.’ He didn’t say, ‘Guys, we have this problem. Will you send up a couple of prayers? Maybe throw in a few words in tongues? Maybe pray that the Lord of the Harvest would send in a few laborers?’ That’s not what He said or how He said it! He came to them filled with pathos (passion) and said, ‘Pray!’ (It was a command!) He said the equivalent of ‘I command you to beg Me to send laborers!’ He was saying, ‘Cry out to Me to hurl forth those into the harvest that know how to save the lost, heal the sick, cast out demons, and let the oppressed go free!’” (Lou Engle)1

And these signs will accompany those who believe: In my name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new tongues…they will place their hands on sick people, and they will get well.” (Mark 16:17-18; NCV)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • You know all those unsavory unsaved people out there – the ones on the news – the ones participating in all kinds of sin? Jesus had compassion on them. Let that sink in.
  • Ask God to let you see the lost the way He sees them. Ask for His heart for them, as well.
  • Now, pray for their salvation with His heart cry!
  • Cry out to Him, “Hurl forth those into the harvest that know how to save the lost, heal the sick, cast out demons, and let the oppressed go free! And, include me!”

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, let me see the unsaved as You see them. I’ll sit here quietly before You for a minute. Give me Your heart for them. Teach me to pray for them. Make me bold enough to minister to them before they come to know You, so they can see Your love and concern for them. Save them, Jesus! Hurl forth those into the harvest, including me, that know how to save the lost, heal the sick, cast out demons, and let the oppressed go free! Thank you, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

Kingdom harvesters are being thrust into the harvest fields of this nation!
