Church in the U. S. Capitol

Members of the House and Senate are attending a weekly service that is happening in the Capitol again. This service took place for the first 100 years of this nation. Liberals like to look to a founder that said that religion can’t be any part of government, but even Thomas Jefferson went to church in the rotunda of the Capitol building! He was a part of the launching of that! He defended the practice! We decree that You will draw more and more leaders into that service.

“They worshiped together at the Temple each day, met in homes for the Lord’s Supper, and shared their meals with great joy and generosity – all the while praising God and enjoying the goodwill of all the people. And each day the Lord added to their fellowship those who were being saved.” (Acts 2:46-47; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Thank the Lord that many of our Christian leaders in Congress meet together weekly to worship, to pray, to study the Word, and to encourage one another and to take communion together.
  • Pray a John 17 unity for them! May they be one, even as Christ and the Father are One.
  • Intercede that they will be like yeast to other members of Congress, drawing in members of both political parties, making the lost hungry and thirsty for Who they know.
  • Pray for more services, more Bible studies and more prayer meetings in the halls of our nation’s U. S. Capitol building!

A prayer you can pray:

God, we thank you for drawing our Christian leaders together in weekly services. May their hearts grow together as they worship the King of Kings together! May they pray together for this nation, seeking Your face and Your Word for direction for the decisions they make. Grant them grace to walk together in a John 17 place of unity. May their unified example draw other Senators and Representatives to Jesus—men and women bold and unafraid. Multiply them, Lord! Multiply them until there are multiples of services, Bible studies, and prayer meeting in the halls of the U. S. Capitol. Amen.

Today’s decree:

I decree that the Believers in Congress will keep meeting together in unity in the Capitol building and the Gospel will multiply in the halls of Congress.
