Kingdom Minded Prayers

The Body of Christ has a problem. We tend to look to the Lord for what He can do for us. We have lost the ability to pray for souls, because we are focused on what we drive and what we eat and where we live. The things of the Spirit are taking second place. We should be praying for the lost and for the healing of the sick and for the strengthening of the saints and other Kingdom matters. We should be focused on what God is doing in the earth, how is He lining up history into His plan. And, when we ask Him about those things are we asking for His reasons or our own? Saints, let’s leave the temporal things behind and focus where He would have us focus.

“You desire and you do not have; you murder and envy and you cannot obtain; you quarrel and fight. You do not have because you do not ask; you ask and do not receive because you ask wrongly, so you can spend it on your passions.” (James 4:2-3; NET)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • We need to repent, Church, for ourselves and the Church, for the small, self-centered way we have been largely praying.
  • Ask God for greater faith, so that you can ask Him what to pray and how to pray for what is on His heart daily.
  • Ask Him for a greater level of trusting Him that He will meet Your needs as you prioritize His desires.
  • Put that into practice right now.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, forgive me and forgive the Church-at-large for our self-centeredness. We have such limited vision, Lord. We know the needs we have daily, and those things are easy to pray for. We don’t understand that You desire something so much more! You want to partner with Your Church in prayer for what is on Your heart. You want us to intercede for nations and Your Kingdom purposes. You want us to pray for the lost, the prodigals, the sick and the oppressed of the devil. You want America to be saved in a day. Lift up our eyes and our hearts to come up a level in our intercession. Tell me what’s on Your heart today, Lord. Jesus’ Name, amen.

Today’s decree:

I will position myself to hear what is on God’s heart every day, and I will learn to pray Kingdom-sized prayers, especially for the lost of the United States.
