Awaken the Leaders in the Body of Christ

Men and women called by God into service in the Church are called to a unique spiritual and societal role. They are often looked to for guidance and assistance, even by those outside of the Christian faith. They are also often held to a higher moral standard and are watched carefully to see if they live what they profess. This can be emotionally wearing on these mere men and women graced by God for their calling. Many don’t make it. Some leave the ministry, feeling burned out and worn down. Some succumb to temptations of lust or addictions, looking to quell some of the loneliness and burden of the ministry.

Some, however, go to the throne of grace daily to find grace to help for each day’s needs. Loving God more than the pleasures of this world, they rightfully divide the Word of God and train the saints in their realms of influence. We need many more bold servant leaders such as these! It is time for the leaders in the Body of Christ to awaken, equip, and lead!

“Now these are the gifts Christ gave to the church: the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, and the pastors and teachers. Their responsibility is to equip God’s people to do his work and build up the church, the body of Christ.” (Ephesians 4:11-12; NLT)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Thank the Lord for all of the apostles, prophets, evangelists, pastors and teachers you know in the Body of Christ.
  • Pray for them by name, as Holy Spirit leads, asking for grace and spiritual renewal for them.
  • Intercede that they would come to the cross of Christ daily and find grace to help in time of need, breaking the power of any oppression, addiction, or limitation off of them.
  • Ask the Lord to give them revelation on equipping and train them to be equippers, not just those that teach or meet practical needs.
  • Call for the Lord to raise up more equipping servant leaders in the Body of Christ.

A prayer you can pray:

Lord, I thank You for (name all of the leaders in the Body of Christ that the Lord brings to mind.) Grant them grace for personal spiritual renewal. Grace them to break free of any limitations in their thinking or by any sin they have allowed into their lives. Show them that there is more to ministry than meeting practical and spiritual needs. Give them revelation on how to be the best equippers and trainers. Let them raise up others as equippers, as well. May they multiply themselves, Jesus. Amen.

Today’s decree:

This is the time of awakening for the leaders in the Body of Christ!
