Foundation of Our Government

“God did an amazing thing when He birthed this nation. He put in the heart of our Founding Fathers the desire to form a nation based upon the realization that it is God who makes laws—man only legislates them. God is the one who gives rights to individuals, and those rights include life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness And all of this is discoverable because it is God—and Nature’s God—who makes these aspects recognizable to all. At the same time, our Founding Fathers perfectly understood that man is flawed and that power is intoxicating. Their experience with the Throne of England and its abuses was fresh in their minds and caused them to structure the new government based upon Scripture (Isaiah 33:22) to create a bi-cameral Congress with two branches as well as the three branches of the federal government: Legislative, Executive, and Judicial. The Legislative branch creates laws, the Executive branch executes the laws, and the Judicial branch enforces the laws. The separation of powers, with the proper balance, is critical to a government led by fallen man. This mix of theology and practicality has produced the longest standing Constitution in the history of mankind!” (Dave Kubal)1

“Then Samuel spoke to all the house of Israel, saying, “If you return to the LORD with all your heart, remove the foreign gods and the Ashtaroth from among you and direct your hearts to the LORD and serve Him alone; and He will deliver you from the hand of the Philistines.” (1 Samuel 7:3; NASB)

Give Him 15 minutes in prayer:

  • Pray that our government leaders would embrace a biblical structure.
  • Ask the Lord to forgive our nation for allowing the worship of foreign gods and foreign religious practices.
  • Now, thank Him that He has turned this for good in that this nation has become a mission field for those from other nations coming to our prosperous nation founded on Christian principles.
  • Thank the Lord for our long-standing Constitution and government.

A prayer you can pray:

Father, we pray that our government leaders would truly understand the biblical structure our nation was founded on. We pray it would be fully embraced, honored and adhered to. We ask that we allowed a mixture of other religions, including the idolatrous, to come into this nation. We thank You that You turned this for good and that many from other nations come to these shores, where we can introduce them to Jesus. They come for opportunity to prosper, but here they can find the One that can prosper them. We thank You for giving our founders wisdom to develop a nation based on a Constitution of biblical standards. Amen.

Today’s decree:

“The LORD is our judge. The LORD is our lawgiver. The LORD is our king. The LORD is our savior.” (Isaiah 3:22; GWT)
